Dr. José Muñoz has over 30 years of senior executive management experience in domestic and international public companies, private startup firms, and nonprofit organizations. Muñoz has served at Point Loma Nazarene University since 2006, where he functioned as the associate dean of Graduate Business Education for six years before taking on his role as associate professor of business, teaching graduate- and undergraduate-level finance, accounting, international business, strategy, and healthcare finance courses. Prior to his tenure at PLNU, he served as the CEO of Chicken of the Sea, after leading the team in the $400 million acquisition of the company from Ralston Purina.
At one point in time (the early 1980’s) San Diego produced 90% of the tuna consumed in the USA. Dr. Muñoz was the CEO of Chicken of the Sea during this exciting period of San Diego history. Richard and Dr. Muñoz spend some time discussing how the seafood industry shaped San Diego and other parts of the California coast.
